Hardcore

June 24th, 2009 . by Syber

I got into Andy Remic awhile ago, and am anticipating his next release in January 2010 called Hardcore. Here is the synopsis quoted from Andy Remic’s personal site.

Sick World was a planet dedicated to the ill, the deformed, the dying and the dead.Humanity as an organism was not the most durable chassis. After mixing it up with aliens, the human shell developed a host of unwanted and incurable ailments… esoteric diseases, curious viruses, life-changing bugs, vomit-inducing deformations. So a beautiful planet, Sick World, was terraformed with limitless funding, state-of-the-art research centres, gleaming wards and towering operating theatres providing unparalleled care, a perfection of medicine and a pinnacle of repair for the plethora of grotesque diseases and mutating conditions. However, a thousand years ago something happened, and the planet was evacuated in totality. Today, it lies uninhabited.Combat K: Keenan, Franco and Pippa, forced by implanted logic cubes into an unholy alliance of cooperation. Mission: to infiltrate Sick World and carry out a simple fact-finding mission prior to SLAM excavations to research the new Junk threat. It should have been safe, simple, secure. As the first day fades, so a long hibernation ends. The Medical Staff of Sick World, the doctors, the nurses, the patients, those abandoned long ago, a thousand year gestation of hardcore medical mutation and accelerated healthcare technology… they can smell fresh meat, and begin to awake…HARDCORE. You’ll never look at a nurse the same way again.

Sounds pretty cool eh?

New Category

June 21st, 2009 . by Syber

My love for movies brings me to a new category on Digital Burn, Faves. Its my spot to share some of my favourite DVD’s in my collection. I will try and add one a week, as time permits on Sunday of the week.
First up, Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol 1.
About: This is an epic 2 volume revenge movie about the Bride (Uma Thurman) who’s wedding party including herself gets massacred by the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad…and after being in a coma for 4 years…rises to exact revenge on those that tried to kill her.

The Good: First off I am a huge Tarantino fan ever since Resevoir Dogs, the guy writes great dialogue and has tons of violence in his films. The film is a great homage to the 70’s Hong Kong style action flicks, with lots of references to 60’s/70’s Tv shows. The bride’s weapon of choice is a Samurai Katana, the film is fast paced and shot in Tarantino’s film style. The main fight scene in the restaurant the Bride kills 57 people. Uma’s yellow black striped suit is tribute to Bruce Lee. Oh yeah, Uma’s stunt double is Zoe Bell, Zena Warrior Princess’s double.

The Bad: the original was 4 hours long so they released it in 2 volumes.

David Carradine’s recent death had me pull this one out to watch today, if you havent seen this one yet, and I cant imagine anyone who hasnt…snap this up on DVD.

Lazy Sunday Update

June 21st, 2009 . by Syber

I am taking a day off from all the crazy stuff preceeding the move. While looking for a new fridge and stove, I picked up the complete mini-series Tin Man. Its a re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz done for the Sci Fi channel in the USA. I wasnt sure if I was going to like it, but its actually really good. They did take liberties with the whole cast, changing them up for a more modern scifi story, plus it has Zooey Deschannel as DG (Dorothy).
My niece might like this.
My sister is cool, she’s the one resposible for my Buffy the Vampire Slayer addiction…damn you sis.

The News

June 19th, 2009 . by Syber

One week left till the big move, I can hardly wait. Off to the bank after work to give them my hard earned greenbacks and sign my life away. The next week or so will be sketchy as far as the ‘net is concerned…but fear not followers I shall return in force.

Big Willie

June 17th, 2009 . by Syber

Will Smith.
Just finished watching Hancock on the satellite, and one thing for me..Mr. Smith never fails to entertain. Bad Boys, Bad Boys II, Independance day, I Robot, Men in Black 1+ 2 and Enemy of the State are the ones I like from Big Willie. I am surprised he hasn’t got a new flick for the July 1st weekend this year. I am thinking of pulling out Bad Boys 2 out of one of the packed boxes to watch before bed tonight.

sssh..I even liked Wild Wild West.

Wanted 2

June 16th, 2009 . by Syber

this just in from io9.com

Timur Bekmambetov told Russian media that he plans to start shooting this sequel late this fall or in the winter, and shooting will take place in America, India and Russia. Also, he claimed he’s found a way to bring back Fox, Angelina Jolie’s character. Also coming back: the Executioner, played by Kostya Khabenskiy.

Holy crap thats cool, I loved that flick with Angelina Jolie and the bending bullets and all. its a good popcorn flick, snap it up. Yeah whatever quit yer bitchin’ some of the scenes would never happen but overall its a decent film. get over it.
